Memorial Scholarship 

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

Honoring the legacy and character of William Earl Ladson, Jr, this scholarship rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, integrity and commitment to serving others and the community support for their educational goals. The scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to minority students to help offset tuition cost, student loans and expenses.

 If you are a high-school senior or enrolled in a 4 year college and wish to apply for the scholarship, please follow the instructions listed below.

ELIGIBILITY / CRITERIA

The William Earl Ladson Jr. Scholarship is available to college students; and may be used for education-related expenses, tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

* Be a minority

* Be a graduating senior or college student  (minimum 3.0 GPA);

* Be able to demonstrate at school and within the community the attributes of leadership, integrity, and community service;

* Be a US citizen;

* Be enrolling as a full-time student at a 4-year college or university

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must submit all the following items by 11:59 PM (EST) on Friday, May 14, 2021:

2021 William Earl Ladson Jr.  Scholarship Instructions: 

* 1000 words minimum Written Essay, “What is a Community Change Agent and how do you plan to make a difference in your community?”

* 30 seconds video describing change you want to see happen in your community

*Proof of college/university acceptance.

* Copy of most recent report card to include GPA.

* A letter of recommendation from a high school, college educator, or community leader.

The recipient will be announced online on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 12PM (EST)

Award

Selected scholars will receive a scholarship up to $5,000 each for the 2021-2022 academic school year.
